This morning, I was discussing my dislike of unions. I actually posted a Tweet about how union is a four letter word...with a fifth letter making triple time OT and on a smoke break. Oddly enough, the person discussing it with me struck me as pro union and the minute I mentioned the National Football League as the perfect example of a union with too much power...she claimed my argument silly and dismissed me for knowing nothing. First, I would love to have her tell the players of the NFL that their union doesn't matter...I would enjoy taking pictures of that little exchange as she was politely explained to about how serious of a union they thought it was. It was, however, the perfect example of a pendulum swung too far in the union's [Read more...]
First off, Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat...not bad...but it wasn't Tommy, nor Les Mis. I am not a Lloyd-Webber fan anyway, but this might be the best of his that I've seen. Admittedly, it may help that I was watching a little eleven year old face on the stage...a face that still calls me 'daddy' even though I have tried and tried to get her to cut it down to just 'dad'. It was a great evening...until her mother ruined it when my parents dropped my daughter at home. Apparently us having ten minutes with my daughter and my father stopping for gas was enough to make her mother 'panic'. A little reminder tonight as to why I am not with the woman...getting into nine years since that split. I once referred to her controlling tactics [Read more...]
"...the most sensational Inspirational Celebrational Muppetational This is what we call the Muppet Show!" Yes, I only quote top 40 lyrics. Was lucky enough to get offered tickets for my oldest daughter's show tonight. He first on stage professional job as she is one of the children in Joseph and his Dreamcoat. Tix for this show are normally near $100 after taxes. It is a dinner theatre, but it is still the most expensive show my kids have made me come to see. Were it not for the freebies, I would likely be February before I would have gotten there. As such, my day gets thrown off kilter as I scream home to feed the Doberman...and let me tell ya, he ain't impressed to be in the porch again after I got home. He gave me that wtf look as [Read more...]
It is just after 6am and it is frakking cold. Is frak a word? It should be by now. Seems every NBC show is trying to use it to garner success from Galactica. I suspect Big Bang Theory should have used it by now, but it isn't NBC, so they may choose "Nanoo nanoo" instead. After reading the recent report on a Republican declaring that President Obama doesn't use the word "God" enough in his speeches to the US...well, I'm sure frak is a word he isn't using enough of either. Just a quickie, this morning. Two more days of Fido and Fifi...then my new prose story will begin.
Funny...I post one of my most erotic posts, so far (see my one earlier today called Cold Fire if you're interested) and no one has read it...and by 'no one' I mean only four when I'm writing this one. Just proving to me how timing is everything and how posting something at 9:30-ish AM EST doesn't get the volume that something I post at 6:30 or 7pm EST does. EST...hmmm...Eastern Standard Time...Early Sex Today...I like the latter better. Sitting listening to Pink Floyd doing a live version of Take it Back...wonderful song about how we have too much ego to apologize for our errors after the fact. How we all fuck up and move on and forget that, sometimes, we need to look back and say we made that error before someone else we may [Read more...]
You know what the chain of command is? It's the chain I go get and beat you with until you understand who's in ruttin' command here. - Jayne Cobb, Firefly ...The combatants moved about the suspended deck like a dance. The grey walls hum with the surrounding machinery creating the surrounding air. The blue clad Operative held out his sword while the captain defended himself with a screw driver. This scene I am describing is one of the final shots from the film Serenity. Originally, this post was going to be a deposition of my thoughts on the character of Jayne Cobb...after about 500 words tapped out on my mobile, it evolved into something I didn't expect. The film Serenity...the big screen version of Joss Whedon's television series [Read more...]
"Sir? Are you ready?" Marshall stared at the helmeted man for a moment before the words sunk in. "Yes!" He yelled back over the roar of the jet engine. The helmeted man nodded and spoke into his mouthpiece. Marshall could not see the man's eyes through the dark glasses under his helmet. He had no idea if this mission even made sense to the others. The plane banked hard south. Marshall steadied himself against the bulkhead and checked the tightness on his straps again. The helmeted man waited, absently brushing something off his grey uniform pants. His head nodded and he reported, "It's time!" He then moved to the side opposite Marshall. Wrapping his hand around one of the safety straps on the wall, he slapped the button. Marshall heard [Read more...]
Writing erotica is a funny thing. Women tend to like it as it creates a mental fantasy as the knight rides in on his steed and gives up his armor to be with her... Men, however...well we are more visual. We, as a gender, would rather have it shown than have to imagine it. I know I grew up hiding peeks into some of my mother's romance novels...and you have no idea how disappointed I was when she went from erotic romance to historical romance around 1984. I am certain there are some stories that crossed those sub-genres, but not the ones she was reading. I know I had the birds and bees talk with my folks around New Years in 1981...I recall my little brain having issues wrapping around how the boy parts would go in the girl parts. This [Read more...]
