My hands are still near frozen from this morning's events...only so much blowing on them one can do before the fingers dry up and fall off... Have some pictures I'll be posting on Facebook in a bit...no...no nudes...not this time...unless you count a horse as nude when it isn't wearing pants. Speaking of which, she did scream at a couple of stallions on the parade route...not so much in a 'come hither' way, but more in a 'don't you come any closer you dumb fuck!' way. Each horse has their own goofy personality...this particular mare is the oldest we've got in the barn...she's 16. I believe she has 8 foals out there somewhere...one who is with us that is just six months old. One thing I have learned over the past year is how fast these [Read more...]
Just spent that last two hours engulfed in a wave of Monty Python nostalgia... To paraphrase John Cleese...what kind of fucking crap was that? They truly were the best...watched their pseudo 30th anniversary special which was filmed in 1998...meaning Monty Python is now 42...HOLY SHIT! Not only is that old, but it is ironic as well...of course, for those that don't know, Douglas Adams was one of the Python writers... Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government! Well...back to my blog on comedy that I posted earlier this morning which, I might add, it seems no one read...there is no one like the Pythons anymore.
I have been doing some transcribing lately of interviews to assist with deaf literacy. As I have stated here before, I am losing my hearing...and that runs in my family. I do have one deaf cousin but that was doctor's error back in the early 1960s when she was born. Suffice to say, I know a bit about the surface area of this subject. As a kid, due to said cousin, we used to get together on a Sunday after church and have sign language lessons...about thirty of us in the family. For my brother and I, typically, it was more playtime, but we learned a bit...what can I say? I was like eight or nine at the time. Most of these interviews I am transcribing are discussing with employers about what would make it easier to hire and work with [Read more...]
Good morning Ladies and Bruces... Funny...I type that and the dog bolts from my room like I'm a vet with a really big needle...oh well...guess my feet will be cold for a few minutes. Day one of vacation was a disappointment. Went to the pub which was too busy...the TV screens were too small (almost Freudian slip as I initially typed 'TV screws')...and there was no bar maid to flirt with. I like the bar dude there, but I just don't swing that way. So, onto day two which...after that disappointment, I decided to brighten my mood this morning by watching a few Youtube excerpts from Monty Python Live at the Hollywood Bowl...my Facebook Bruces will shortly be subjected to a few of those vids...gods save you all. Could use more sheep dip, [Read more...]
I guess world news has shut down today...if you believe our border mates to the south. Say what you will about the Yanks...they know how to celebrate. I could do without the turkey...just not my favourite...but sub in a steak and I'm there. Food, drink, and football...who could ask for anything more? I'm currently sitting at the pub and going to watch the beginning of the Dallas-New Orleans football game. Three other clients in the place...unfortunately, I'm the only one who isn't known. A bit annoying when they talk across the room at each other over me. However a fourth guy just came in...Frenchie...who I actually do know. I'm not sure it is a good thing, but guess I'm now a regular at this place. So will have a few drinks and a [Read more...]
Roxanne, you don't have to put on the red light... - The Police This song is a funny one. Is the guy being selfish, kind, or both... It doesn't even drive towards the question of 'why'. Why is she putting on the red light?...does she need the money?...does she enjoy it? I recall my first 'red light' district. Was rather a shock when I first discovered it in Winterthur, Switzerland...just outside of Zurich. It was the second time I was there for work. The first time I had been, we had been staying somewhere else, so I hadn't noticed. We were walking back from dinner one evening, it was dusk, and there was what appeared to be an apartment building across the street from our hotel. There were a few orange-ish street lights around, [Read more...]
I'm very rarely serious. This is a problem. I need help. I mean, seriously...well, that's enough of that. I broke a sweat after three seconds of attempting serious thought...key term is attempting as I didn't succeed. There are certain advantages to this. Generally, even though they are getting to the age where they try to hide it, I can make my kids laugh at the littlest things. Realistically, after this, all else is just gravy as there is nothing like hearing your child giggle at something you did. As a flirting technique, humour is second to none. Once the goddess is smiling, it is not likely she'll say 'no'. It is, however, my burden to keep this super power in check as much as I applaud the raising of the skirt...I remember The [Read more...]
As is my tradition, I am taking a few days off this week coinciding with US Thanksgiving. Slight difference, this time in that I have to go to a pub in order to watch football on Thursday. I do not have cable nor satellite at the house, so off into the great wild I will wander. On Friday I will also watch the only film I traditionally watch every year...best Christmas movie ever...Die Hard. Nothing gets me into the holiday spirit like watching John McLane in bare feet gun down bad thieves posing as terrorists. Only difference between this film and 9/11 is that we don't know who the thieves were in 2001. Also, Alan Rickman was a much better actor than George W. Bush. As it goes, I'll watch Argyle running up the mobile phone bill as he [Read more...]
