Watching my youngest getting her horse riding lesson. Always a hoot other than being eaten by the farm bugs. She is currently on a Percheron, a heavy horse, and watching a ten year old on one of those is like a flea on an elephant. My eldest has decided she is not interested in the horses. She thinks herself too much of a girlie girl for this. As for myself, I have not been on a horse now for a couple of months. I am probably due as my belly is expanding too much and I could use the exercise. It is either this or I shovel shit from the horse stalls, and at least riding smells better. All this said it is a bit disappointing that I have put some of my weight back on. About ten years ago I was near 300 pounds. No joke. In 2004, I bottomed [Read more...]
Why is it that holidays seem to bring on disease for me? Back at New Years I had the flu...now, coming down the back side of a cold that hit full bore on Sunday. Is this karma setting me up for a lotto win or something? Hmmm...maybe I need to buy a ticket. I have always subscribed to the theory that gambling is voluntary taxes for the stupid. Last time I was in a casino was at one of our horse races almost two years ago. I have been back to the races, but not the casino...and being we are usually in the barn preparing a horse, it makes me superstitious enough that I do not bet on races even. Years ago I used to work at a store running the lotto machine. That is why I am afraid to play now. There were these people, for lack of a better [Read more...]
I admit...I slept through most of today again. Hoping this may be the last day like this, though. Finally starting to feel myself again...just as the snow dances down from the sky again. Perhaps the snow gods showed pity on me, but by the end of New Years day we had nothing left other than slight piles left by snow plows along the street. Looking out there that night was like looking at a glowing landing strip under the Moon. The flurries began, again, last night and have been on and off all day today. Watching I drift down from the clouds to cleanse the ground anew. Now, the ground is barely carpeted, just kissed by the snow gods...being the snow has stayed, I would suggest there was some tongue involved. Rumour has it that we will [Read more...]
Dark out my window again. Funny how that happens each night. I keep expecting Mother Nature to try and fool me sometime, but it has yet to happen. Sitting in my office with a heating blanket on my lap. The Doberman is laying on his bed behind me trying to ignore my tapping fingers as he and I listen to ESPN's broadcast of the final regular season NFL games of the season. For the record Hanny, the Doberman, is picking the Steelers to win it all...I'm staying with my pick of Baltimore which I made back in April. Still not a great day. Heavily medicated, easily taken advantage of...although not easy enough, as that has yet to happen. Mind you, not sure I would be able to participate in much more than a group sneeze at this [Read more...]
Well this sucks. Based on this lovely flu, it may be a week or two before I feel normal again. You're all jealous, aren't you? You all want it now. Yeah...right. Even have a 'narcotic' prescription cough medicine which tends to put me to sleep in ten paces. Anyhow, likely to have proper entries running again tomorrow...hopefully. I have done my Star Wars marathon, my Matrix and Underworld marathons, two seasons of X-Files and now a couple of episodes into season one of Babylon 5...currently watching a soul hunter convention. Anyhow...as I sit here a look at my fourth day in a row of soup, I can only say one thing: My kingdom for a pizza!
There seems to be no sun today. I sit on my couch, sniffing and sneezing and staring out at the snow covered yards. Gun metal grey clouds above the barren street today. A car or truck passes every now and again as they dance towards there destination. Everyone has somewhere to go...something to do. There are no destinations anymore. Only resting points between trips to the next resting point. They all hurry on with the theory that their destination is more important than yours. Their purpose trumps yours...makes yours unworthy. With more money...a faster car...more things...we gain the appearance of being happy. But what have we lost? "Lost a planet, Master Kenobi has...how embarrassing." - Yoda, Attack of the Clones Generally I [Read more...]
It would seem that CO2 is a red herring and yet people still swear by it. It is odd that with the documents leaked showing that scientific stats were falsified have been ignored by many...and yet they claim the gossip released by Assange and WikiLeaks this week as 'truths'. The NY Times, for example, did not print the documents debunking CO2, yet did get on the WikiLeaks bandwagon. I guess truth is dependent upon which side you choose. Which pill you take...the red pill or the blue pill. It is a red day on green street when people see scientists debunking scientists as more questionable than a convicted felon debunking national details and secrets. With both situations, we have to find out what the real problems are and work at those. [Read more...]
I'm sick. I haven't even logged in anywhere since first thing this morning...even this blog entry is coming off my Blackberry. A day of Nyquil, NFL Head Coach 2009 for PS3 (am I the only one who likes that game better than Madden?), and occasionally running out the door so the Doberman can do his business. *ah choo!* Anyhow, luckily, I am sitting with a goddess who is kindly taking care of me. No grapes are being peeled, mind you...but we're munching on popcorn and watching the newest Disney version of Alice in Wonderland. One of life's great truths is brought up early in this film...all the greatest people have gone round the bend. I am pleased to think I'm long round it and long gone to never come back. The twin girls with the [Read more...]
