Being Darwin's Sword - Savannah Book Two is near completion in content (not editing, unfortunately)...and now having seen Star Wars: The Force Awakens twice...think I'm feeling a shift with Savannah that I had not acknowledged. The original intent was to cross erotica with sci/fi but, with Darwin's Sword, it feels more like space opera now...on a much wider scale than I initially set this out. No...not the cover of the new book. To the right is me just playing with ideas, although that picture did inspire a recent additional chapter to the book. The definition of space opera is a touch vague but always seems to center on space warfare and melodrama...but Star Trek is space opera and the television series were never truly centered on [Read more...]
After more than nine months...Savannah has her first Amazon-posted review...and she has five stars. I'm damned near giddy about this...screw it, I am giddy... It is on Amazon.uk...which is a funny thing with how Amazon does their business. I'm uncertain why the reviews wouldn't transfer between geographic sites...but hey, I'm still giddy. Quick edit two hours after writing this, I have been informed that reviews do transfer between Amazon sites...it just takes some time. COOL! I'm in such a good mood...this can't be a Monday. So, the link to the review is below. Thank you to the reviewer who, quite correctly, points out that I'm playing in my own sandbox here. I don't play in the traditional genres well.
I wanted to say "for Seven Bloggers or Writers"...but the title is already too fucking long to begin with. Yes. Four years. Yeah...four years increasing the pressure on the accelerator for this budding writing career. It was a cool November day in 2011 when I first logged into my, then, Wordpress hosted account and typed in the words "Stranded in Toronto". Actually, the term SinT had been a running joke with me for a long time. This year, however, has been quite a year. My first novel, book one of Savannah, was released in February. That book was about eighteen months in the making when it finally hit Kindle. Quick aside here, this year's NaNoWriMo program will hopefully have the second novel almost completed. In fact, [Read more...]
Author's note: this is an excerpt from the upcoming novel of erotica, Darwin's Sword - Savannah Book Two, which will be out in November. Being Wicked Wednesday was where Savannah made her first ever appearance, seems the appropriate place to give a little tease of what's to come. "How do you stand this fuckin' heat?" Jasper lifted her rum and Coke to sip on. "The alcohol always helps." Savannah glanced over at her. "That and the lack of clothes at these resorts." Many wandering eyes were on the brunettes at the bar. Most were flirting and playing with their own partners while trying to attract others on the sandy beach that surrounded the bar. Overhead, the sun kept a spotlight on all of them, whether simply flirting or couples [Read more...]
Have been playing with new ideas and new projects in my head lately, while working on my regular ongoing ones. To begin, Skelly Manor is going to slow for a bit. Have lots of story ideas and, recently I mentioned perhaps 69 "episodes" but...let's just say something bigger has come along. There is one further Skelly Manor coming shortly, but thinking all my other plans of short fiction may be put on hiatus for a while. Will still have random shorts showing up for Wicked Wednesday and Masturbation Monday, but not planning them going forward. Darwin's Sword - Savannah Book Two is well on the way. Hoping to have the first draft finished before summer and ready for November release. Also hoping to have book three done by year's end for a [Read more...]
Author's note: Meet Jasper. As something of a teaser today, I thought I would put Jasper's first story here before she joins the characters in the upcoming release of Darwin's Sword - Savannah Book Two which should be out mid-November if I keep on schedule. That said, at the pace I am currently writing Darwin's Sword, book 3 and book 4 may all be ahead of schedule. This little snip of the story happens after the events of Just Prey (Book 1) and before Darwin's Sword. So, allow me to set the scene... The breeze added a chill to the already cool crisp air as it blew the long green grass nearly flat. As though adding insult, snow began to fall from clouds above. This isn't even winter, Jasper thought as the first flakes fell past her [Read more...]
I did mention that this blog would be doing a quick-change, no? Likely be back to short fiction for Wicked Wednesday next week, but this week seemed right for something different. Three days from this posting will be the release of my first novel on Kindle: Just Prey – Savannah Book One. My longtime readers will recall Savannah. For those of you that are new to these pages…first off, welcome and thank you for reading…second, perhaps an introduction to Savannah is in order. Savannah is an Emmi warrior that was sent to Earth. Her mission is to make contact with The Predator, whom has been deep under cover since the latter half of the 19th Century. When that connection is made, eviction is to begin. On Savannah’s arrival, however, [Read more...]
This was not an easy piece to write...however, as one of my favourite quotes from the 2009 J.J. Abrams reboot of Star Trek goes: "What is necessary is never unwise." - Sarek Hi there. My name is Chris and I am a writer. All together now, "HI CHRIS!" It took longer to get to this point than expected...but here we are. Two weeks from last night, my first novel will be released on Kindle. Just Prey - Savannah Book One (Facebook event is here...and there will be prizes) will be out just in time for Valentine's Day. Of course, that's coincidence. I'd never actually do of such a thing a thing on purpose. That said, please feel free to pre-order by clicking on the right hand cover seen on the right panel of this page. [Read more...]
